Identify the change you want to reverse
Start with the fix run that applied the change through Catalog Guardian. Its history records the original values and per-item outcomes for eligible recovery. Use the product and field details to confirm that you have the right run before acting.
Rollback applies to eligible changes made through the app. It cannot restore historical edits made outside Catalog Guardian, such as changes in another app or Shopify's product CSV importer. Keep independent backups for business-critical data and check the recovery options before starting a large edit.
Compare the current value with the applied fix
Use rollback only when the field's current value still matches the value applied by the fix. If someone has edited it since then, restoring the old value could erase their work. Review the conflict before deciding what the product field should contain.
| Original title | Title applied by the fix | Current title | Review outcome |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic Tee | Navy Classic Tee | Navy Classic Tee | Matches the fix; check rollback eligibility |
| Classic Tee | Navy Classic Tee | Navy Cotton Tee | Changed later; review the conflict |
Illustrative values. A matching current value is one recovery condition, not a promise that every change is eligible for rollback.
Review the run, then check every outcome
A fix run can contain several products and fields. Check the individual results instead of assuming that the whole batch has the same status.
Open the relevant fix history
Find the completed run in Catalog Guardian inside Shopify Admin. Confirm the affected products and compare the original values with the values the app applied.
Check the recovery conditions
Review eligibility and any per-item conflicts. If the current value differs from the applied fix, investigate the later edit before trying to restore the original.
Run the available rollback
Use the rollback action for an eligible run. Read the resulting item-level messages to see which values were restored and which changes need further review.
Verify the catalog
Inspect the affected product fields in Shopify and run a fresh scan. A scan helps you see what needs attention after recovery; it does not replace checking the intended product values.
Prepare the next batch with recovery in mind
Start with a small set of reviewed fixes and keep the scan report. Confirm that the proposed values fit your product data rules before applying a larger batch. Coordinate with other operators who may be editing the same fields.
Eligible rollback is included across the plans, including Free. The Free plan allows up to 10 reviewed fixes per batch; larger plans raise that limit. Recovery remains subject to the change's eligibility and the current state of the field.
If recovery is unclear, contact support with your store domain, the approximate fix-run time, and the per-item message. Describe the field you expected to restore. Never send Shopify access tokens, passwords, or customer data.

Questions before restoring a value
Can Catalog Guardian undo edits made outside the app?
No. Rollback covers eligible changes applied through Catalog Guardian. For an import through Shopify's product CSV importer or another app's edit, use the records or backups from the tool that made the change. A later catalog scan does not create a recovery history for those edits.
What should I do when rollback reports a conflict?
Read the per-item conflict message and compare the current value with the value applied by the fix. Check who or what made the later edit. Agree on the intended value before making another change, then verify it in Shopify. Contact support if the history does not explain the mismatch. Get help with a rollback conflict.
